Deformational processes around the down-dip limit of seismicity in subduction zones: the view from the rocks. - Dr. John Platt

I’ll cover what field and microstructural investigations tell us about how displacement is accommodated in the subduction channel at depths of around 40 km, how wide the deformation zone is, and what surface signals we might expect to be able to detect. My discussion will be based on what we see in the Franciscan of the northern Coast Ranges, on Catalina, in the Sanbagawa belt of Japan, and elsewhere.
