AGU Announces the Louise H. Kellogg Mid-Career Medal
The American Geophysical Union (AGU) has announced the creation of the Louise H. Kellogg Mid-Career Medal, an award recognizing scientists whose interdisciplinary work advances our understanding of how planets evolve. The Union Medal honors the legacy of Louise H. Kellogg, an influential geoscientist, leader, and mentor, and was established through the efforts of her colleagues. It reflects the spirit of inquiry that defined her career as a professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at UC Davis.
Dr. Kellogg's research exemplified curiosity and a deep respect for diverse scientific perspectives in the study of Earth and planetary systems. Awarded annually, the medal recognizes mid-career researchers whose work demonstrates intellectual breadth, creativity, and meaningful contributions to the scientific community. Nominations are now open, and community members are encouraged to share this opportunity and consider nominating colleagues whose work reflects this forward-thinking, interdisciplinary vision.
The application for the Louise H. Kellogg Mid-Career Medal can be found on the AGU website.
